Request for policy documents, guidelines and resource material on agriculture, peasants, land, irrigation and food security

Mail of the Day

Dear Sir

Warm greetings from SEARCH-Pakistan,

SEARCH (Society for Environmental Actions, Reconstruction and Humanitarian Response) is a NGO working in Pakistan for food security, agrarian reforms, sustainable agriculture, participatory governance and rural development. SEARCH was established in 2011 and registered (under the Societies Act XXI of 1860) with the Registration No: 6481 on 20th February, 2012.
SEARCH's work is based on the values of Rural Reconstruction, motivation and obligation towards the development of the individual as a whole. It employs and promotes 'demand-driven' and self-help strategies towards rural community development and poverty reduction.

Pakistan faces problem of food insecurity, though a bulk of our populace still resides in rural areas and is directly involved in agricultural activities. Agricultural yields have faced severe challenges, including recurrent flooding over the past few years which have affected millions of people. We are also experiencing severe drought conditions in different areas of Pakistan as well. Despite these floods and droughts have caused severe damages to rural livelihoods, there are also other important factors responsible for the problems plaguing our agricultural sector and diminishing our food security.

Hence, there is a dire need to introduce agriculture policy to ensure sustainable food to the people of Sindh. In this regards, SEARCH is developing a position paper and a guideline on "Sustainable Agriculture in Sindh" with the support of Action Aid Pakistan to engage CSOs, experts, departmental heads and academia to formulate Sustainable Agriculture Policy with focus on right to food, agrarian reforms and small farmers.

We would appreciate if you could share the list of already developed guidelines and other existing relevant documents and policies on agriculture, peasants, land, irrigation and food security for our research and review.

Your contribution will be duly acknowledged and highly appreciated. We look forward for your positive response.

Sincere regards,

Abdul Waheed Jamali

Executive Director
