Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan - Ministers discuss new jobs issue with CEC

MiISLAMABAD: Law and Justice Minister Farooq H Naek along with Religious Affairs Minister Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim in his office to discuss the issue of banning new jobs.

After the talks, Farooq H Naek told the media that appointments would be made in accordance with the laid procedure and law.

He said that the chief election commission was apprised that new appointments had been made in different departments during the last seven to eight months.

He said they held a detailed meeting with the CEC about the notification that placed a ban on new appointments.

He said that the government had imposed ban on appointments in 2011 but allowed some ministries to make such appointments in view of the shortage of staff.

The chief election commissioner was told that freezing of funds at this point would hinder ongoing development projects and push up the cost of completion, he added.

Farooq H Naek said the CEC listened to their point of view and asked them to send these reservations in writing. app
