Lawyers demand construction of judicial complex in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Lawyers Forum on Friday expressed concern over the delaying tactics being used in the construction of Judicial Complex in Charsadda district and asked the government to initiate work on it forthwith.

Speaking at a press conference at the Charsadda Press Club, Lawyers Forum president Saifullah Khan said two years ago, the then chief justice of Peshawar High Court Ejaz Afzal Khan had laid the foundation stone for the Judicial Complex in Charsadda but its construction had not yet been started.

Saifullah Khan said the premises of the district court were in dilapidated condition. “No facilities including car-parking and comfortable place for the lawyers and clients are available in the kutchehry,” he said, adding in this connection QWP provincial president Sikandar Sherpao had constructed a corridor for the lawyers on self-help basis.

The government should also establish a dispensary and a utility store for the lawyers, he added.

The Forum president said merit was being violated and all the recruitment made on political and nepotism basis. The Forum’s vice-president Gohar Ali, joint secretary Javed Iqbal, press secretary Asif Jan and others were also present on the occasion.
