At least four persons were killed and three others injured in exchange of fire between two groups when elders jumped into children clash here in Charsadda on Friday.
According to police, two groups hailing from Tarangzai Maroofkhel area of Charsadda exchanged hot words over children dispute.
The situation worsened and armed men of first groups barged into house of rivals and opened indiscriminate fire killing three persons including two young girls.
In retaliatory fire a member of attacker group was also killed, while a passerby and two women sustained injuries.
The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Tension gripped the area after the murders.
Heavy contingent of police reached the scene, brought the situation under control and continued patrolling in the area to avoid any further clashes.
The police registered a case into the incident and started the investigation
