Ghani Khan\'s 100th birth anniversary celebrated




CHAKDARA (Lower Dir) (APP): An impressive function to mark the 100th birth anniversary of great Pashto poet and philosopher, Ghani Khan was held here at Fishing Hut under the auspices of \"Fikri Taroon\" where different events of music, poetry, art exhibition and discussions on the life of Ghani Khan were arranged.
At the function known poets including Rehmat Shah Sail, Prof. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir, Dr Khalid Zia, Prof. Sadbar, Dr Khadim Hussain and Gohar Ali Gohar described the life Ghani Khan in their poetry and later threw a detailed light over the life of great Pashto revolutionary poet.
he function was also addressed by president ANP, Lower Dir, Hussain Shah Yousafzai, former minister, Bakht Bedar, Sadiq Jirk of Quetta, former MPA Shoib Khan and Prof. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir.
The speakers were of the view that the life of Ghani Khan was in fact a theory based upon principles and selflessness. As a progressive and intellectual writer, he wrote, \"I want to see my people educated and enlightened\". \"The People with a vision and strong sense of justice who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature\", they said.
Ghani Khan, they said gave a lesson of competitiveness and above all his love for nature and the local habitat of the Pashtun people was visible in his work. They said quoting Ghani Khan as saying \"Pashtun was not merely a race but, in fact, a state of mind. The speakers said that Ghani Khan always gave a lesion of tolerance and amnesty and applied this principle in his own life by pardoning the killer of his son.
Ghani Khan, they said was name of a philosophy but unfortunately his feelings and teachings were not taught properly to the people. They regretted that we could not get maximum benefit of Ghani Khan\'s efforts for the nation.
President ANP Lower Dir, Hussain Shah added that Ghani Khan mostly gave the reference of roses in his poetry because he wanted to embed the freshness and positivity of nature in the minds of the people.
Later, a resolution was presented demanding issuing a postal ticket and establishment of college in the name of Ghani Khan.
A picture exhibition was also arranged on this occasion where artists displayed their paintings depicting different aspects of the life of Ghani Khan and his poetry.

Three killed, 30 injured in Charsadda blast

At least three people were killed and several others wounded on Tuesday in an explosion near a police vehicle in Farooq Azam chowk of Tehsil Bazaar in Charsadda.

According to district headquarters hospital personnel, more than 30 were wounded in the attack, including policemen.

The Charsadda police control room confirmed that the police vehicle was attacked in the Tehsil bazaar situated on Nowshehra road.

Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident.

District police officer Charsadda, Shafiullah Khan told that the explosive material was planted in a motorcycle and the police mobile van was the primary target, adding that the dead also included a shopkeeper.

The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital while those who were in critical condition were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.

Charsadda lies close to Pakistan's troubled northwestern tribal region where troops have been locked for years in deadly battles with insurgents.

The city has seen attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to policemen and other law enforcement personnel.

It needs to fill a vacant position of Program Manager (Female) to be based in Islamabad. Program Manager would be directly reporting to the Executive Director and will be supported by Program Managers. The position involves traveling within the country.
