Sherpao condemns blast targeting bus of govt employees

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao on Friday condemned the blast targeting a bus carrying employees of the Civil Secretariat from Peshawar to Charsadda and asked the government to probe the matter.

In a statement, he said the government should probe whether the explosion took place due to negligence as it was the second blast of its kind.

He prayed the Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved families to cope with the tragedy. He also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and directed the health authorities to give them the best medical treatment.

About the suggestion floated by some quarters to allow the Pakistani Taliban to open an office, Aftab Sherpao distanced himself from any such development and said the QWP had not been consulted in this regard.

He asked the federal government to implement the declarations of the recently held All Parties Conference (APC) in letter and spirit. He said the federal and the provincial governments should sit together to reviews the arrangements for talks with the Taliban.

Aftab Sherpao said the stakeholders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be entrusted with arranging talks with the Taliban as they had the know-how and knowledge about this issue.
