 CHARSADDA — Wildlife officials have launched a major crackdown on the illegal wild bird trade and smuggling networks in the region.

• Dealer Shops Raided: DFO Wildlife Peshawar, Mrs. Manahil Wahab, led a targeted raid on Charsadda bird shops, imposing heavy fines and confiscating various protected bird species.
• Falcon Trapping Inspected: Field visits were conducted at Shakoor Mehra Jat and Behram Dherii to monitor and prevent illegal falcon trapping under the Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.
• Smuggling Zero-Tolerance: The DFO strictly directed staff at the Peshawar Motorway toll plaza to stay highly alert, ordering a zero-tolerance policy for any bird smuggling across the province. APP

One person shot dead over 'blasphemy' in Charsadda

A grocery-store owner in Charsadda's Shabqadar tehsil was shot dead by unknown assailants in his shop on Monday night.
Malikabad area residents and police sources allege the man, who they claim was not of sound mind, called himself a prophet.
Shabqadar Station House Officer Murtaza Khan, however, denies the allegations, saying that the crime appears to be a case of personal enmity.
The man's family registered a First-Information Report against unknown assailants.
A Supreme Court judgment issued regarding the Salman Taseer murder case in October last year said that in many cases registered in respect of blasphemy offence, false allegations are levelled for extraneous purposes and in the absence of adequate safeguards against misapplication or misuse of such law by motivated persons, the persons falsely accused of that offence suffer beyond proportion or repair.

CTD arrests terrorist with weapons and explosive matarials in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a terrorist with arms and hand grenade during crackdown here on Tuesday.

The CTD team on an intelligence tip-off conducted operation in Tangi area of district Charsadda during which a terrorist identified as Ishaq alias Yousaf was apprehended with a pistol and hand grenade.

The detainee was shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

New Elected councillor shot dead by unidentified assailants in Charsadda

A newly elected general counselor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Charsadda while two others were injured.

Speaking from district headquarters hospital, police official, Mazullah Khan told The Express Tribune that councilor Attaul Haq was heading home in his Suzuki van when miscreants targeted him near Habibullah Korona area, a kilometer east of the city.

Haq died on the spot while two others, Abdullah and Jan Alam were injured. They were shifted to the district hospital for treatment.

The official added that while a case had not yet been registered, but an investigation had been launched to determine whether it was an incident of terrorism or personal enmity.
