Those who attended include Deputy Commissioners, Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda, District Education Officers (DEOs) and Assistant District Officers (ADOs) education. The meeting reviewed progress on enrolment of children in schools, acceleration and bringing improvement to attract maximum number of girls and boys to schools. During the meeting the Deputy Commissioners of all three districts of the division presented eight-day performance report (September 10-18) to Divisional Commissioner.
According to the report 8,059, 2,937 and 3,183 girls and boys were enrolled in district Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera, respectively during the period. The commissioner was told that enrolment is increasing with each passing day while seminars and walks are also being arranged to sensitise the people in this regard, which is bearing encouraging results.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Sahibzada Mohammad Anis directed further acceleration of the enrolment campaign to be continued till October 15, and arrangement of awareness programmes for attracting parents and highlighting the benefits of education in mosques, Hujras and educational institutions on daily basis. He said that besides Ulema, teachers, civil society, non-governmental organisations and public awareness programmes should also be held through political workers and local political leaders.
